Get Your Screens Clean

With your windows open this spring, make sure dirty window screens don't ruin your view. To clean your screens, start by removing them from the windows and laying them flat on your patio or lawn.

The first step is to brush the screens lightly with soapy water and a soft brush. Rinse the screens with a spray attachment on your garden hose. Don't be too aggressive with either your brushing or water spraying-you could stretch your screens out of shape.

Dampen a cloth with mineral spirits and wipe the frame of the brushed and rinsed screens to remove grime.

Once you've removed the screens, you're likely to notice dirt built up in the grooves of your window frames. Use a disposable sponge paint applicator dipped in mineral spirits to clean out the grooves.

Now replace your screens, sit back and enjoy a summer breeze (once it gets here).
